Pet sitting & House sitting job in Vancouver Island
Vancouver Island - Cowichan Valley
Mieke
We are looking for an animal-lover(s) to catsit/housesit our 3 cats from May 24-27 2024 at our home in Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island, BC.
Some fun tidbits about our cats:
-We have 3 cats; Lily (11 years old, Tabby cat), Bart (9 years old, Black Stumpy Manx), and Peach (4ish year old rescue, Flamepoint Siamese)
-Our 3 cats enjoy an indoor/outdoor lifestyle where they can roam our outdoor spaces and surrounding forest during the day and sleep indoors overnight
-They require daily wet food feedings around dinner time & topping up their dry food and water bowls/fountain, as well as tending to their litterboxes
-They are all quite cuddly in their own ways and love affection and attention from people; Bart is friendly with everybody and food is the key to his heart. Peach is timid with strangers but is a lovely little soul and may warm up over time with love and cuddles. Lily is quite independent but she loves to chat and turns into a lap cat at night.
A bit about the living situation:
-You'd be staying in the upstairs apartment of our house (downstairs is our offices, so no one lives there but it will be locked during this time) and have full range of all our outdoor spaces, including large upper deck with a greenhouse and patio table, outdoor living room under the carport, and a big backyard with picnic table, fire pit & hammock.
-The house is across from Shawnigan Lake, so it's in cottage country with parks, boat launches and beaches along the lake within a 5-10 minute drive. There is also the magical Koksilah River about 15 min away for more secluded swimming. There are many local hiking trails.
-The local town of Shawnigan Lake is about 5 min away by car, with a cafe, bakery, restaurants, pub, and pharmacy there. Mill Bay is 15 min away with larger grocery store, liquor store, etc.
-There would be some watering of the greenhouse plants required, depending on the weather (every few days).
- A car is required for this visit as there's no public transportation and it's not feasible to walk into town form our location. Please keep in mind that the driveway is quite steep.
