We need a house sitter

Vancouver Coast & Mountains - Powell River

Kim

**If you can’t do 2 months can you come from June 10-July 12 instead?**

I need a petsitter or two for just over two months for two sister cats, who are about 5 years old. The girls are quite low maintenance, no medical issues, just need love and affection, food and water, litter cleaning, and possibly some outside time. Molly, Sadie, and I are in negotiations as to how much outside time is acceptable for indoor cats! They have a large catio but they also want some freedom. I will update you on our final agreement.
I live in a one-story house, 1.5 blocks from the sea walk. There is a peek-a-boo view of the water/cruise ships from the property. It is a 3 bedroom house but one room is an office and one is being used for storage so it is only available for a single or couple.
There are two sitting areas, two dining areas, 1.5 bathrooms and a large covered deck/catio. There are lots of windows and not many blinds (no black-out curtains) because I love the light.
I have a car that could be made available. There is lots of room to park in the driveway or on the street. The house is near the end of a dead end street with a forest area across the road so there is basically no traffic and it is very quiet. There are frequent visitors from the forest in the yard; mostly deer but also a black bear occasionally. He sometimes uses the driveway to access the back lane on his way to the beach. I have never had a negative or face-to-face encounter with him/them. Cougars come into town occasionally and they are my biggest concern regarding letting my cats outside.
The deer and their fawns are welcome in my yard and I’ve tried to plant things they like to eat. My front yard has been turned over to mostly wild flowers and clover. I am trying to grow hydrangeas but the deer didn’t realize those were on the “please don’t eat” list! If you love to garden, go for it! Muck about in the front or side gardens or plant sweet peas and vegetables in the four raised boxes by the front door. If not, don’t worry too much about the yard. I’ve just had clover planted in the back so it won’t need much upkeep. I’ll have sprinklers set up and they just need to run once in awhile. The cherries should be ripe while you are here so enjoy!
I live in Powell River, part of the Sunshine Coast, but we are somewhat challenging to get to. To get here from the mainland (Vancouver) involves two ferries; either up the Sunshine Coast or over to Vancouver Island and then a ferry from Comox. With reasonable ferry waits it takes between 4-6 hours, whichever way you come. In the summer, the waits are not reasonable.
Powell River was known for its mill and its bi-annual choral festival (kathaumixw) and music is still a strong draw. You will be in town for PRISMA as well as all the regular happenings. If you like to be outdoors, you will love Powell River; lakes, ocean, rivers, mountains, trails…we have it all! There is a canoe route, mountain bike trails, hiking trails with cabins on the top of mountains, golf course(s), a sports complex, scuba diving, and rock climbing. (I can lend you my bike but it is a ‘comfort bike’, not a mountain/trail bike.)
Please contact me if my cats, my house, my town, and my dates work for you. Let me know about references, previous experiences and flexibility. Thanks!
