We are retired teachers who love travel, all pets, and houses… condos are good too! Tents not so much.

favoriteWhy we love house sitting

What do we love about house sitting? What’s not to love? We love every bit of the experience: meeting new people, enjoying and loving new pets, the travel, exploring new communities, and all that each place provides for cultural and artistic exploration.

We both taught elementary school for 35 years during which we discovered the joys of teaching mixed with some little bits of, “Am I crazy to be doing this?” Mostly they were great careers in which we also found lasting love… each other!

Animals are a huge part of our marriage (4 great kids, 5 amazing granddaughters) and we have had dogs, cats, birds, turtles, rats, gerbils, hamsters, snakes, tropical fish, a hedgehog, and probably a few others too!

Travel has always been a big part of our joy in life. We have holidayed in Mexico probably a dozen times, cruised the Caribbean on a number trips, and done virtually all the countries of Europe.

Canada is, of course, worth exploring coast to coast, which we have done extensively. In particular our favourite destinations are in the hearts of LotusLand, Vancouver and Victoria, BC. We can hardly wait for our next adventures there having house sat 5 previous times in Vancouver during its lovely spring season.

Being from Winnipeg (burrrr) we are now looking to swap our previous spring times in Vancouver and Victoria for the worst of Winnipeg winters, which are February and March; in whole or in part, or in parts.

Pet care

OH MY GOSH! We have had, since we were little kids, an enormous variety of...well you name them. OK, I'll name them: dogs, cats, snakes, birds, turtles, Cayman crocodiles, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, white rats, not white rats, fish, and likely a few more.

We are basically new to pet sitting but have house sat 6 times for people who have been unfortunately pet free (sigh).
At present we are down to only 1 cat as your condo building allows cats but no dogs. Yes, we were allowed to have only 2 cats but we had Dexter, Zeno, and Mac at the time so bent the rules a bit, or maybe more than a bit. Zeno who was diabetic made it to 16, Mac made it to 22, and Dexie is 13. However we never have and never will leave our cats without a live-in loving cat sitter who gets paid really well.
