We are a retired, non smoking couple who are travelling the world exploring and house sitting looking for our little slice of paradise. We were able to retire early and our plan is to travel the world and see where we end up. We are both energetic and love physical activities.

We have been travelling and house sitting full time for over twelve years now living in Central America, New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Fiji, South America, United Kingdom, Europe, the Caribbean, South Africa and Canada.

We love to immerse ourselves in the local culture of new and exciting places around the world. We feel house sitting is a great way to see countries from a locals perspective as one of our long term goals is to find a country we would eventually settle down in.

We have house sat in some pretty remote places and therefore, are familiar with pump systems, generators, solar power, rainwater collection, and living away from modern conveniences.

From our collective life experiences, we have a high capacity for resolving challenges and unforeseen circumstances. The level of maturity and security that we bring with us can only benefit the homeowner and the community they live in.

We have owned dogs most of our married life and have put all our dogs through obedience training. We are very capable to handle large dogs as well as little fur balls. As our children were growing up we also did the rabbit, hamster, gerbil, and fish routine.

Pet care

We have been looking after pets for over eleven years full time. Prior to that we owned dogs and put them all through obedience training.
We have experience with dogs of all sizes, cats, fish, parrots, birds, chickens, horses, reptiles, rabbits and hamsters.

We tend to book out fairly far in advance, so last minute sits don’t usually work for us unless we are looking to fill a gap.

We felt like we won the lottery getting Peter and Karen as house sitters. Our house is a heritage home with a septic system and water well that requires extra love and attention. Peter and Karen were fantastic caretakers, solving problems when they could, communicating with us and organizing assistance as required. We received regular mail call communications and updates as needed. We had complete peace of mind knowing they were looking after our home and garden. I can't imagine a better ... Peter & Karen were amazing ❤️ I would have them back in a heartbeat. Communication was great. There were a few curveballs (new puppies) before we left & they just rolled with it. Highly, highly recommend.

Having Karen and Peter as our dog and house sitter was an outstanding experience. Our dog Callie was well loved and Karen and Peter provided her with daily walks in new environments, which was enriching and rewarding for her. We received daily or every other day pictures/updates of Callie snuggling with Peter and Karen, or where she had just been taken for a nice long walk. Peter and Karen took great care of our house including taking care of our plants, and yard work. We came home to an ... Karen and Peter are lovely people. Very nice to talk to, and they kept us up to date throughout the sit. They drove us to the airport and left our vehicle there upon our return with a full tank of gas. The house was clean & tidy. They had made dinner for us as well as a container of muffins which was much appreciated after a long day of travel. What can we say! Phenomenal! Karen and Peter were awesome.Great communication from the outset and through the sit. Dogs were well cared for and the house was spotless on return even our new lawn was cared for! Our three dogs are reactive walkers and one is elderly with leg and eye issues but no problem for these guys as they took care of them as if they were their own. They were kind and caring with our Louie, clear communication throughout the whole process and were gracious with advice and guidance as we figured out our first experience with pet sitters in our home. They were also great company, we really enjoyed their inspiring travel stories. They took immaculate care of our house, too, returning it to us in a better condition than we left it (omg the yard!) We really enjoyed getting to know Karen and Peter before leaving on our holiday and learning about some of their fascinating sitting experiences. During our time together we observed their interaction with Murphy and felt confident leaving him and our home in their care. They sent us regular updates and photos and when we returned we spent another evening with them catching up and it was obvious Murphy was happy being with them. Karen & Peter took excellent care of our home and 3 cats for 5 months Nov-Mar 2020. Communication was excellent. They respond to emails very quickly. I asked for updates on the cats every week while we were away. We received updates with photos and the occasional video of our happy felines every single week. The cats were clearly comfortable and at ease in their presence. It's so nice to have this level of peace of mind being so far away. The house was left SPOTLESS when we arrived home. ... They are such a trustworthy and animal-loving couple, we cannot recommend them highly enough. We have two very large dogs who are used to lots of exercise and attention and are not easy to please. Karen and Peter loved them as their own, and the feeling was mutual. Our dogs want us to go on holidays again so they can come back. ... Top 3 things we loved about Karen and Peter: - Gave us updates while we were away including pics of the dogs - Identified our dog was unwell, took him to the vet, provided him medication - Went above and beyond to make our house and garden perfect for our return.

Wow! Thank you for the kind words. It was our pleasure looking after Ollie and Akira. They are such wonderful dogs. The cleaning and gardening are just part of the service we provide. I would never have a homeowner come home to an unkept home.

We were provided regular updates whilst away via email and that was very reassuring. Their love of animals is obvious! When we returned the house was spotless and although we told them not to worry our lawns were mowed (we'd had 3 weeks of rain whilst away!). I cannot recommend Karen and Peter highly ... They looked after our two precious border collies so beautifully and the attachment was real - such care and affection was very obvious. Our older girl needed extra care due to arthritis and this they took in their stride, giving her the additional time and patience as needed. They looked after our large home and vast garden exceptionally well, it was spotless and the garden green and thriving on our return Karen kindly ... Peter and Karen looked after our home in Bassendean , Perth W.A and our pets for 10 days, from 06th Aug to 16th Aug 2018. Peter and Karen are experienced and very reliable House and pet sitters who are a pleasure to deal with. We returned to a spotless home and happy, healthy pets. One of our pets required medication and this was not an issue for Peter and Karen. We had never used house sitters before but we feel we won the Lottery when Peter and Karen agreed to look after our house, two dogs ... We were a little apprehensive in the lead up as it's hard trusting people with your life while you are out the country but as soon as we met them we felt at ease. They are an easy going, friendly and respectful couple. Our dog can be a little temperamental with new people but he immediately loved these two. I recently had the great fortune of having Karen & Peter Pecksen house sit for me. Karen & Peter are a delightful couple. They are totally trustworthy,considerate & very clean. My very precious dog LuluBelle adored them. I drove Peter to his Motel after the sit & we took LuluBelle in the car with us. On the return trip home she sobbed all the way. She still looks for him.
