Hi I am a retired senior caregiver and property manager so I know houses, and responsibility. Sometimes with my partner in crime, Mikey (a retired tax advisor), he and/or I have cared for pets for friends many times. Mike and I have both had cats and dogs in the past and we love animals; we live in Calgary, AB. We pet sit individually, or together, depending on the situation.
We have not just pet sat, but did a house swap once, very successfully with a Seattle couple - never met each other; just swapped homes and pets - it was great!
A few of our past pet sits were far away, one in rural Quebec and another in Princeton, NJ. the latter pre-arranged long distance via the sister web to THIS web - HouseSitters America. Since moving to Calgary in 2018 (from Banff-Canmore) I have not pet sat because I have my own fur baby now - Buddy the black tuxedo cat, whom I love deeply. I have a wonderful teen cat sitter who stays with him if I travel.
PS If forced to (as a low tech senior) I can zoom or fB facetime (but use Samsung not AN I-Phone - SO android BUT NOT ANALOG LOL. SEMI-TEK LITERATE
Mike and Brenda house and dog sat for us in the summer (2017). They also watched our garden, turtle and fish with a lot of care. They were thoughtful, responsible and attentive sitters. We (and our dog) were very happy with our experience and would warmly recommend them to other home owners in search of reliable caretakers. Josianne and family.
There is nothing more secure than having people at home while you're away. Get a house sitter.
